As an intermediary working in impact investing and blended finance for more than 15 years now, I have lost track of the number of times that promising potential transactions have failed because the pieces of the jigsaw needed to make them work couldn’t be brought together.
We won’t be able to scale up climate finance (or indeed finance for the other SDGs) unless all the parties that need to be brought together have both the skillsets needed for blended finance and an awareness of the agendas and constraints that other parties are working to and under. Only then – and only when personal relationships of trust have been established too – can the adjustments needed be made to align agendas and help us move forward at the hugely accelerated pace we need to achieve.

In my role at Acre I work on sustainable finance related mandates across Banks, Investment managers, Private Equity Groups, Family offices, Foundations and Non-Profit groups.
Over the last 5 years it has become abundantly clear that in order to deploy the capital at the scale required we need to find ways to bridge the communication gap between the different actors in the climate finance supply chain. Society urgently needs them to work together in a way they have never had to before.
We believe the ‘will’ is now to create the momentum shift required but the financial services community is bereft of the tools and platforms for that to manifest into action. Climate Finance Express is designed to help bridge this gap by giving individuals and institutions the opportunity to create a lasting network built on a shared sense of purpose, shared experiences, and personal relationships.
